Let's address the financial issue:

It costs approximately $1600.00 - $2,000.00 per month to run this operation. This figure takes into account the feed bill, the vet bill, and the farrier. The animals are spayed, neutered, dewormed, and vaccinated. To this point we have been totally self-supporting, and as you can imagine that can be pretty scary at times. There are donation boxes on the property, if you like what we do here and would like to help out.

Feed for the Animals

We purchase our feed from Intermountain Farmers Association (IFA). If you want to donate in this way, these are the staples:
     • Pot-Bellied Pig food for the pigs.
     • Chicken Scratch for the ducks, chickens, turkeys, etc.
     • Ratite Maintenance (16% Protein) for the Emus.
     • Rabbit Pellets for the rabbits.
     • COB (corn, oats, barley mix) for the cows.
     • Hay Cubes for horses, donkeys, llamas, and cows.
     • Hay (clean and dry) for goats, sheep, llamas, rabbits.

Other food items - not staples, include 60 pounds of carrots and 20 pounds of apples per week.

We go through approximately 25 bales of straw per month for bedding from October through April. We like to keep the piggies nice and warm during winter. We can always use clean dry straw.

"Not to hurt our humble brethren (the animals) is our first duty to them, but to stop there is not enough. We have a higher mission--to be of service to them whenever they require it... If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men."

--Saint Francis of Assisi (mystic and preacher)
