November 8, 2009 - 11th Annual Vegan Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanks to all who came out, this event was a huge success! The main dish of Faux Turkey Wheat Meat and gravy was donated by Cali's Natural Food and it was amazing! Many volunteers and Sunflower Farmers Market donated the rest of the fabulous food. We were also delighted to have special guest speaker vegan bodybuilder Robert Cheeke speak before dinner was served. We raised money for our winter hay which we bought the first batch of two days later!
August 8, 2009 - 1st Annual 5k Run/Walk (Liberty Park)
A crisp morning greeted both runners and volunteers alike for this first of what will be many run/walks for the animals at the Ching Farm Rescue and Sanctuary. We had some great teams raise much needed funds that all go directly for this summer's hay and grain. It is the work of our volunteers and the participation of the runners and walkers - and those sleeping in for the animals! - that keep the farm running on a daily basis. First place went to male division runner #21 with a time of 18:58, female division runner #145 with a time of 22:36, and childrens division runner #13 with a time of 27:45. Good job runners!
