Amber is a thoroughbred and had a short career as a racehorse when she was young, but she just didn't have the stature for it! Lucky for Amber, her people didn't mind and they kept her for years, even bringing her with them from New York when they moved to Utah. Sadly, they later lost their job, home, and all their property which left Amber homeless. She came to us around 2004 at the age of 25 and was adopted out to a home that had already adopted a horse from Ching. Sadly, the two horses did NOT get along and the other horse pushed Amber over a fence. She came back to us with a bad leg injury, but she has healed up nicely now. In the summer she loves to splash in the goose and pig pond to cool off and is often the first at the gate to the barn in the evening for dinner time!
At Ching Farm Animal Rescue and Sanctuary we have many horses like Amber who have lost their families due to economic conditions and needed homes. At the rescue she is cared for and allowed to live out the rest of her life in peace.
