Princess is a blind draft horse who was used to breed colts for profit. When she was no longer able produce colts, her caregivers were going to take her out to a landfill and shoot her. They would have sold her to a feedlot but it is illegal to send a blind horse to slaughter. We were able to intervene and they instead turned her over to Ching. We are appauled by this mentality of a horse only being worth while if they are making you money and we advocate all horse owners to commit to a lifetime of care for any horse, despite disability or illness. If they cannot commit to this, then maybe a horse is not the ideal companion for them.
