Ruby was one of 20 horses confiscated by Salt Lake Animal Services in 2008. We are not sure her age but she was probably 3 or 4 when she arrived at Ching. She was taken with a foal at her side, but we are fairly certain she was not the mother. All the horses taken were badly malnourished and skinny, and Ruby had to be in veterinary care 5 months to get fattened up before we were allowed to bring her home. Others from the 20, including the foal, went with the faculty from a local vet tech program that works closely Ching. Ruby is now bonded with Dreamer and loves to run around in any weather! She also gets her name because of her gorgeous red color, which can be described as a lovely red chestnut.
