Bernie was brought to our attention in 2004 by a volunteer who found him at West Jordan Animal Control. He had been picked up as a baby running around 32nd West and 37th South in Salt Lake City, Utah. He became very good friends with Burt when he arrived.
Burt was 6 years old when he arrived shortly after Bernie. The instantly bonded and became good friends. He was a well loved piggie. His person lost his home and had to move into an apartment. This didn't deter his person though, he still kept him and would sneak him outside at night to potty because he wasn't allowed to have pets in his apartment and Salt Lake County is not zoned for potbellied pigs. He eventually called Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and they referred him to Ching. He had never seen a mudhole before arriving and he got right in within minutes of arriving! His first winter with us he got sick, he had been indoors all his life, so we moved him to the greenhouse with the old pigs where they can all stay warm in the winter.
